"NOT GUILTY": historical verdict of a jury after the trial against Mapuche leader Relmu Ñanku in Neuquén, Patagonia, Argentina

NOT GUILTY


The jury accquited the Mapuche chiefs this afternoon in a historic trial with an unprecedented cross cultural jury. Six of the jury's twelve members were indigenous.

After 5 hours of deliberation, the jury found the defendants "not guilty" of the charges of assault with severe bodily injuries and aggravated harm. The prosecutors had already withdrawn the original charge of attempted murder).
